What to do when....

dh has to work, one son is in basic training for the Navy, and the other wants to spend it with his gf? Well my answer was to have some fun making some cards and a paint can.
The first card I made was for a special new friend who has been so sweet. I was feeling kinda blue this week, missing my son, and low and behold, this lovely lady sent me some awesome SU paper that I really wanted but could not get...lol Thank you again Tammy! You made my day! What I liked most about this card is the way I accented the word smile by useing a bookplate over it. I really really like that idea. I also used a stamp and turned it every which way on piece of scrap cs, let it dry and then used my quickutz pitcher die to cut out the pitcher for the vase. The flowers of course are prima. I clipped off a sprig from one of the cherry blossom vines.
This next card is for my ds in basic. It is called Anchor's Away for obvious reasons. I sanded the edges of the paper to distress them. I also used the faux stitching tape to outline the stars. I chalked the Anchor and used foam tape to make it stand out.
This next card is also for ds. It is called Thinking of You and Missing you. It is a trifold card. I cut a piece of white 12x12 cs at 4x12. Then I scored it at the 4 and 8 inch marks. Took my bonefolder and creased the edges. I then took a 3.5 x 3.5 piece of dcwv cs and embossed it in my quickutz folder. I then sanded the phrase and the frame. Added a prima flower. I glued the ribbon to the back of the trifold and brought it around to the front. I cut a notch out with my hole punch and tied the knot.
This next card is one for a class I am going to be teaching. I have turned my basement into a brick and morter store where I can teach classes. I am sooo excited to get this going. Anyway. This birthday card is a joyfold card turned around. I used two color su inks to ink the edges of the white cs. I used a fiskars border punch with some bazzill cs to make the orange frilly border. I also embossed the pink dcwv paper with the cuttlebug folder. I hope they will like making it.
Lastly, I made a paint can for a friend who is bed bound but always knows how to make me smile and laugh every time we talk. She is such a sweet lady and such an inspiration. I thought she could use a bucket full of smiles to brighten her day. The picket fense is a quickutz die that I have in stock along with the prima cherry blossom branch. The heart wreath is just thin strips of bazzill cs that I wrinkled and then twisted together. I then glued them in place to resemble a grape wreath. I sure hope she likes it.
